-The Ultimate Sacrifice

Dedicated to those who have fallen
In a casket draped with our nation’s flag, lies a U.S. soldier. He wears my uniform, my flag, and my first name. He served his country with honor and courage. He was a good man, and an even better soldier.

I envy him, he has seen the end of the war on terror, and has died the way I wish too. Not of cancer, not on a deathbed, not of old age, or heart attack, or by accident, or of cowardly suicide, he died with a roar in his chest, and fire in his eyes. He died a hero.

Saluted by his comrades, missed by his family and friends, he will never be forgotten. His death was not a defeat, but graduation into a heavenly place. Under God's loving wing, in God's tender hand. He now knows only peace.

His close friend at the ceremony said these words:

Dearest Soldier,

Thank you for being our friend, we were happy to have known you. You filled our lives with strength, determination, perseverance and friendship. If we could hear your voice just one more time, our tears would be gone, and our hearts would be filled with joy and sunshine. America now owes you so much, and it can now never repay you. you were the best platoon sergeant a group of soldiers could ever ask for. You asked nothing, and gave so much.

We are sorry we weren’t there when you needed us the most. We should have stayed by your side in case something went wrong. We should not have been gone when you left. We did not get to see you go, we never got to say goodbye. When we found you and held you in our arms, we hoped you could forgive us, but it was too late, and you had already departed, but we don’t think you could ever hold a grudge. Especially now in your heavenly home.

We will cherish the time we once spent together; we will keep your memories close to our hearts. We are sorry you had to leave us, but we look forward to seeing you again in the open plains of the other side. Rest in peace, and we miss you.

Forever your brother in arms,
--American Soldier

p.s. please +fav this, so all of devart will experience this.

p.s.s. anyone who dares think this is "overly patriotic" do me a favor and keep it to yourself.

When you’re brought into this world, they say you’re born in sin. Well at least they gave me something, I didn’t have to steal or have to win.

A Soldiers Prayer

When I am called to serve, Dear Lord,
Wherever war may be,
Give me courage to fight the battles,
My country may ask of me.
Grace me with Your presence,
And know that I love You,
While I fight the enemy,
My country needs me to.

Help me protect my comrades,
As You expect me to,
And keep me in Your loving hands,
While I do what I must do.
I want to do my duty,
And to give the best in me,
To do what I've been called to do,
And protect our liberty.

And if, according to Your will,
I must give up my life,
Please bless with Your protecting hand,
My children and my wife.
